Emanating from a briefing published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company seems to still be in search of series of studio to acquire. This revelation was made in statement made by the head of PlayStation, Jim Ryan where he highlighted the firm's interest in purchasing more production companies so as to boost the supply and chain of its products.
The Sony Interactive Entertainment has in recent times focused to integrate relevant studios to the game department. Amongst these studios includes Nixxes, Firesprite, Bluepoint, Housemarque and Bungie. One of the newest integration, the Haven Studios had begun working on a PlayStation-exclusive multiplayer title and it proposes to expand the PS5’s “catalog of experiences” to serve as a stimulus for more negotiations on the planned projects.
Jim Ryan who's the executive officer of the company has revealed that the initiative would enable PlayStation Studios to be strengthened and the presence of its products made available to all nooks and crannies, even in areas with fewer population. Here's what the Head of Playstation, Jim Ryan said..
“In terms of future [mergers & acquisitions] activity, the answer to that is not at all finished with our strategy of trying to grow PlayStation Studios inorganically,”
On another occasion, he also revealed..
“As we transition from our historic game development strategy to a much broader and much wider market reach than we enjoy today, it is very likely that inorganic stimulus will be required to help us to realize these dreams.”
Furthermore, in an official report, the CEO Jim Ryan confirmed Sony’s interest in investing in the metaverse where he commented on a cross-platform vision and the importance of going beyond consoles to explore new segments in other areas. So we do hope the company's interest in investing in the metaverse will come to realization in the near future.
